Managers, Asst Coaches & Volunteer Background Checks

Little League International requires that background checks be conducted annually on all Managers, Coaches, Board of Directors and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with players or teams. Each volunteer will be required to complete a volunteer application form and provide a copy of their photo identification.  SVLL will perform a background check using the First Advantage National Criminal File database as well as a search of the national sex offender registry.

Volunteers Who Require a Background Check for SVLL: Board of directors, team managers, coaches, practice helpers, umpires, team safety parents, and anyone whose duties will include direct interaction with the players or teams.

THIS PROCESS OF FILLING OUT THE LITTLE LEAGUE REQUIRED VOLUNTEER APPLICATION(including Social Security Number) MUST BE COMPLETED AND IS AN ADDITIONAL SEPARATE REQUIREMENT FROM THE STANDARD ONLINE COACH REGISTRATION PROCESS.

If you want to volunteer with SVLL, please complete the following tasks:

Email the safety officer at [email protected] to request a secured link to an online application provided by JDP. Links are individual, and can can only be used once. You will receive a confirmation email once your application is in process.  Please note you will need to provide your social security number, drivers license number and current address. This application can be completed from a smartphone.
Email a clear well lit head shot for your volunteer badge

Alternately you can download and print a volunteer application to give to your coach or the safety officer directly. Please note this paper form needs to be completed with your social security number and address. You will also need to provide a copy of your drivers license. The hard copy will be entered by the safety officer, this may cause a significant delay in the timeline for completion of your application. Please email a clear photo for your badge or arrange to have one taken by a SVLL board member.
After you have been cleared with a background check you will be issued a field access badge that MUST BE WORN when you participate in any SVLL games and events. This includes any interaction on the field, dugout, and bullpen, during practices, games or warm-ups. No access is granted prior to your receiving your current badge.

    Field Access ID Badges

Stilly Valley Little League requires ID Badges for all Head coaches.  Individuals will be issued a new badge annually after they have been selected as a head coach. It is our coaches responsibility to ensure that all volunteers on the field are background checked.

Individuals must wear their ID Badges during all SVLL games, practices and events in which they are volunteering. Individuals must present and/or surrender it to the SVLL board of directors upon request.

In the event that the SVLL volunteer forgets his/her badge they will NOT be allowed on the field or around the SVLL players. There are no exceptions. It is the manager's responsibility to make sure that all team volunteers have an approved background check prior to coming in contact with the players and failure to do so may result in disciplinary action of the manager.

In the event that an individual is on the field or in the dugout with the players and does not have the league issued ID badge it will result in, but not be limited to, the requirement of the individual to exit the field of play, and may be subject to further disciplinary action. ID Badges are the property of SVLL and may not be duplicated.

    Our Policy

The safety of our players is the highest priority for Stilly Valley Little League. By issuing ID Badges all league officials, parents and their families may more readily identify those adults who have met the requirements for volunteering as set by Little League International and Stilly Valley Little League.

SVLL volunteers on the field or in the dug out must wear their ID badges to insure they have been cleared in our child protection program.  NO ONE will be allowed on the fields in any capacity without their badge on.  If you see a parent or volunteer on any field without proper badge identification please report to a board member.  This program ensures your children are kept safe!

    SVLL Volunteer Participation Program

Stilly Valley Little League (SVLL) has created a formal Volunteer Participation Program to encourage volunteerism within the league.
During the scheduled baseball & softball season, coaches, umpires and anyone who volunteers for 10 hours or more in any position can receive a $50 refund or account credit.  The reason is simple, we need your help!

SVLL is a non-profit organization that exists and operates by the cooperative efforts of many volunteers; from its Board of Directors to its managers, coaches, umpires, team parents and a large body of other supporting volunteers.
This network of volunteers requires continuous growth with a common purpose and goal: to provide a positive baseball and softball learning experience for all SVLL players.

The Volunteer Participation Program allows SVLL to maintain reasonable registration fees by providing parents the opportunity to volunteer within their community. We know that this will be a fun and easy way to contribute to a quality baseball and softball experience for all.
Simply put, the more involved you are, the more fun both you and your child will have!
